Rebel HQ Gallery Show and Costume Gala with Patrick Malin—October 27, 2012
Dear Friends,
Please join us for the next Open House Art Gallery and Costume Gala on Saturday, October 27, 2012, starting at 6 pm with Patrick Malin www.patrickmalin.com
Patrick will be presenting selected works from his “Nature” series. For these oil paintings he worked outdoors directly on site, or “en plein air”, in a sketch-like manner on sized paper. This method dates back to the beginnings of landscape painting in Europe and America.
Patrick’s work is all about apprehending Nature, or what is left of it—of the natural landscape, that is landscape that isn’t domesticated (feeling) but is closer to it’s natural, or wild, state. He often goes on excursions to find remote places to paint—to places like the Mojave Desert, southern Arizona, and the Adirondack Mountains. When not on these excursions, he works closer to home in Rhode Island.
While the aesthetic of the sketch is the essence of Patrick’s work, he tries to be truthful more to the direct feeling of the landscape than to it’s physical form or likeness. So the paintings can be considered abstract in that sense. To him, painting is a humble pursuit—using the modest materials of paint and paper to make an homage/gesture about the natural world. All work is for sell, $200 each.
As always Wayne Bridge and Dorota Streitfeld are the accompanying host artists; and Rich Streitfeld is our host of honor and whimsy, bank of information and network advice. All art is offered for sale, discussion, comments and ice breaking.
Bring pot luck food, drinks, and musical instruments, if you play. By popular demand we will have a fire pit outside, so hot dogs, franks, wursts, sticks etc. will be nice.
And as usual kindly forward the invitation to friends of all ages.

Rebel Headquarters Gallery Show with Bernadette Pace—July 28, 2012
April 28, 2012 Rebel HQ Gallery with glass artist Christopher Billeau
Dear Friends,
Please join us for the next Open House Art Gallery on Saturday, April 28, 2012, starting at 6 pm with Christopher Billeau www.belleauartglass.com
It is our honor and pleasure to share a wonderful artist with the Rebel community. Though Chris was trained as a potter, apprenticing at age 13 to a craftsman from his home town in Wisconsin, he was eventually drawn to the more ethereal, fluid and translucent qualities of glass. What really hooked him was the opportunity glass provides to play with color. He hopes the viewer finds his work to have a sense of beauty, magic, and maybe, even humor.

December 2011 Rebel HQ Gallery & Costume Ball with Keri Marion
Please join us for the next Open House Art Gallery on Saturday, December 31, 2011, starting at 6 pm, with Keri Marion, www.kerimarion.com
Keri’s current work is most closely associated with a new Minimalism using simple media or Lo-Fi technology to make commentary on the every-day experience. She is highly influenced by the genres of Dada and Fluxus and their influences on Contemporary Art.
Her current body of work consists primarily of drawings and objects. Using ambiguity of image, she works with the accumulation of marks that vary in size, depth and boundary. Like any language, each mark holds layers of individual identity only to develop meaning by way of the relationships with other marks in its vicinity. In other words: Everything is relative. This is the substrate of her work.

May 28, 2011 Rebel HQ Open House Gallery with Anna Shapiro
Please join us for the next Open House Art Gallery on Saturday, May 28, 2011, starting at 6 pm.
“…Anna Shapiro www.artbyannashapiro.com is a mixed media artist using steel, thread, glass, cement, mirrors, plaster, astroturf, found objects, and video. Incorporating Dada, Surrealist, Pop, Post Minimalist and Feminist traditions, she allows her subconscious hand to lead her into explorations of materials towards meaning. Formal figure/ground aesthetics often blur the edge between interior and exterior. The art becomes a cathartic transformation of recognizable elements into poignant and humorous art…”
